NM 400 is a wear-resistant steel plate with a nominal hardness of 400 HBW (Brinell Hardness). The "NM" stands for “Nai Mo” (耐磨) in Chinese, meaning wear-resistant. It is widely used in industries requiring protection against severe abrasion and wear, while still offering reasonable toughness and weldability.

NM 500 is a wear-resistant steel plate with a nominal hardness of about 500 HBW (Brinell Hardness). The "NM" stands for “Nai Mo” (耐磨) in Chinese, meaning wear-resistant. Compared to NM 400, NM 500 offers higher hardness and superior abrasion resistance, making it ideal for applications with extreme wear and sliding impact.

It balances wear resistance, strength, and moderate toughness, but due to higher hardness, it requires proper cutting, welding, and processing techniques.
